Endings

Our commercial interactions are continuously punctuated by "endings". It could be the completion of a project, an organisational restructuring, or someone retiring or exiting the business. Endings happen all the time for various different reasons.

I have always been struck by the importance of handling these well, being professional and courteous in our interaction, and doing such things in a way we would like them done to ourselves.

It's also incredibly important to acknowledge the contribution of those who have gone before, celebrate what they have created, and for new officeholders to positively acknowledge their legacy.

Too often executives spend their time communicating how big a challenge they have inherited, rather than the less predictable but more positive route of appreciating those who have gone before, whilst embracing new beginnings.
