Often, our clients bring us in as team coaches to help a working group move towards becoming a high-performance team.
However, not all groups who work together are teams, nor do they need to be.

A team is best characterised by a

·  Common Purpose that gives rise to the team.

· Interdependence of action. They can do together what they cannot do apart.

· Psychological safety. They fail, learn, and grow together.

· Shared norms of interaction, both inside and outside of meetings.

· They are bounded. It is clear who is included and why.

· They meet regularly and strategically engage around the business with relative stability within the group.

Performance recognition and rewards are based on overall team performance.

Being a true team is set at a high bar, and so too are the benefits that can be accrued, but there are occasions when what the business needs is simply a high-performing group.

A good coach can quickly tell the difference and ensure that whatever model best suits your business is optimized.
