One of the most significant enablers in team performance is that all members are able to freely and openly contribute, thus ensuring an optimum organizational outcome.


This can only occur in an environment where challenge is accepted, where it is both encouraged and valued as part of the organizational DNA.
Psychological safety is not a passive concept in that it is not the absence of fear in speaking up, but rather the active encouragement to do so.

Leaders' own behaviours are often the greatest enablers in its development, the paradox being that their transparency about their own weaknesses, adds to the strength of the organization as a whole.
